A Look Into News And How We Receive It?
Mainstream Media
Mainstream media is defined as traditional or established broadcasting or publishing outlets. It is often abbreviated to MSM by journalists. The opposite of MSM is alternative media which is defined as media sources that differ from established or dominant types of media. Sometimes Independent media is a synonym for alternative media. Mainstream Media has been popular for a very long time but now people are looking elsewhere for their news because of the fear that the government has gone through and regulated everything that is on the news. The idea of the government tempering in the news is not a new concept to the public.
Gatekeeping
Gatekeeping is defined as the activity of controlling, and usually limiting, general access to something. In this scenario, what we are talking about is the gatekeeping of news and stories away from the public eye. The government has done so many things that have been hidden and swept under the rug. They work actively to gatekeep these stories from the public. We know this to be true because of the documents that have been leaked to us and the scandals that have been exposed to the public.
Is The News Safe?
Life still goes on and day after day we see new stories popping up. It is up to us as citizens to go out and do our research on every news story that we see. You can't always trust what you see and read so the best thing that you can do is gather your research and always remember that what you read may not always be the truth.
