My Top 5 For News & Information

THIS JUST IN...

My Top 5 Sources of News and Information.

Fox 8 News

Fox 8 News is my local news network. I included this on my list because this is the news that I grew up watching. I recommend Fox 8 to my peers because it focuses on local news around High Point which includes the school that I go to, High Point University. When I was in High School I occasionally got the pleasure to appear on the news. I recommend this news outlet to those who are looking to learn about what's going on outside of the gates passed what they can see. I will also add they do a good job with the local weather as well.

CNN 10

CNN 10 is a collection of the 10 most popular new stories developing around the world squeezed into a quick 10-minute news segment. CNN 10 was a replacement for a very popular news program known as CNN Student News. While this may not be the Student News that we all know and love, it still does a great job of highlighting global news stories. I recommend this to my peers because it is a quick 10-minute segment that will fit into our busy schedules and keep us connected to the news that going on outside of the US.

IGN Entertainment

IGN Entertainment is a news network that used to only pertains to a certain demographic of gamers. IGN is more popularly known for its game reviews but they offer much more than that. I recommend IGN to my peers even if they aren't big into the realm of gaming because they may find something interesting that relates outside of the gaming realm. They recently have been broadening their coverage of past games and into more pop culture stories. Many people may be familiar with their small news segment The Daily Fix.

Apple News

Apple News is the news source that I use the most due to its easy accessibility on my phone. I get notifications whenever a news story comes out which helps me keep up with breaking stories. I recommend this new source to my peers because of its feature where you can filter your news to show you what you are interested in. The reason that Apple News falls fourth in my top five list is because of its Apple News Plus feature. I don't mind that they hold back certain stories for members, but what I don't like is how they post a partial story, and then you have to buy the membership to read the rest. I don't think that I need to explain how easy it is to spread false information when you only have half of the story.

Tik Tok

I debated heavily on whether or not to include Tik Tok on this list but after some deliberation here it is. As unreliable as it can be Tik Tok can sometimes show you a side of a news story that normal reporters might not always capture. Not all of the News on this platform is fake or slanted. I recommend that if you choose to use Tik Tok as a source of news that you do some research of your own outside of the app. I often find myself coming across interesting news and looking it up on Google news to get the rest of the facts.
