This concept got widely popular when people discovered that Alexa and Google Home were always listening to what you say. It was never a surprise when you would mention something in a conversation, like a cruise for example, and then later that day you would receive all kinds of ads for cruise lines. When this occurs we often make a joke about how there is always someone listening and then we move on with our lives. The truth is that it's not just people who are listening to it's people who are gathering data on your life and your daily patterns. WHY IS THIS MORE IMPORTANT NOW THAN BEFORE The digital monitoring of our lives is something that was kept hidden from people for a long time.
